Kurt Ballou of Converge recently posted his new business card which is in fact a PCB for a distortion pedal titled the Brutalist Jr. Naturally I had to get my hands on one and build the brutal-est pedal possible.
The sound from this thing is heavy. Really. Tons of mid range and a really aggressive tone. I used germanium diodes for the clipping section which likely accounts for a lot of this. I was going to film a demo, but many already exist on Youtube – and they’re much better than any demo I could do.
