Solder your own Plaits with Minimal Blood Sweat and Tears!
 
This event will take place on Sunday, March 31st 2019 and will begin at 12:00 PM and run until 6PM or until everyone is done.
 
Plaits is the spiritual successor of Mutable Instruments’ best-selling voltage-controlled sound source, Braids. Not just a mkII version: its hardware and software have been redesigned from scratch.
Just like its predecessor, it offers direct access to a large palette of easily tweakable raw sonic material, covering the whole gamut of synthesis techniques.
 
For $175 you will receive all the components required to build a Plaits module, all tools, and guidance from experienced builders and manufacturers to ensure success. At the end of the workshop, you will take home your very own Plaits!
 
 
This is a surface mount build, comparable in difficulty to previous CCTV workshops (i.e. Tides). We will be placing components onto solder pasted PCBs applied with a stencil. Your PCB will then be baked in an SMT oven. A steady hand and patience will ensure success!
 
This is the fifth workshop at CCTV, and we're confident that 6 people is the optimal number for workshops. With a small group, each attendee can get focused help from the organizers.
 
If you don't have enough time to finish your build, you can come to the next workshop to finish up, or just drop into CCTV during regular business hours!
